Music Ministry Opportunities
The Choir
is directed by Tim Wetherbee and open to anyone in high school or older who would like to serve in this music ministry. If you have never sung in a choir before, that's okay, we’ll help you learn what you need to know. From September through June, the Choir normally serves as music leaders at the Saturday 5:15 p.m. Mass but occasionally will sing at one of the Sunday Masses as well as special Masses during the Christmas season, Lent and Holy Week. The music we sing ranges in style from traditional classical to contemporary church music with lots of variety. We take time during rehearsals which are on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. to support each other in fellowship and prayer. We also have some great parties! If you are interested in joining the Choir, please contact Tim at 748-3577 so we can prepare a place for you.
The Contemporary Ensemble is directed by Dennis Chapdelaine and is open to singers and instrumentalists of any age who enjoy contemporary church music. The group normally leads in music at the Sunday 10:15 a.m. Mass but occasionally does the Saturday 5:15 p.m. Mass as well as special Masses in combination with the Choir. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. from September through June. If you would like to join the group or need any additional information, please call Tim Limer at 785-0581.
The Basically Bach Ensemble: was founded by Fitzroy and Ghislaine Stewart and eventually came to be in residence at St Ambrose which has been the Stewarts’ home parish for many years. Two concerts are presented each year which include a work by J.S. Bach along with another major work. The concerts are a unique gift to the Endicott community with no admission charge, only a free will offering is taken. The programs are also educational with Fitzroy giving commentary on the pieces so that the audience can more fully appreciate the music. The group consists of a chorus of about thirty members, professional soloists and an orchestra of professional musicians. Chorus rehearsals are held in Msgr. Carey Hall on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. from late September to November and late January to April. Anyone interested in joining the group may contact Fitzroy Stewart at 754-1975 to arrange an audition.
Performances are funded, in part, by a project grant from the United Cultural Fund, a program of the Broome County Arts Council.
